Nonlinear Optical Properties of Supramolecular Structures

We studied second-harmonic generation from chiral liquid crystals. Even in the absence of an orienting electric field, significant secondharmonic generation was observed. Upon applying an electric field, the second-harmonic signal could be manipulated by the polarity of the field.
