Old City Publishing is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Ram Mohan as the new editor of the Journal of Marine Environmental Engineering (JMEE).
An internationally recognized expert in dredging, coastal and marine engineering, Mohan is a Senior Partner at Anchor QEA. A long-time director of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) for over 15 years, he was named WEDA’s “Dredger of the Year” in 2005. In 2013 he was appointed the chairman of the World Organization of Dredging Associations.
The author of over 250 publications, some of his contributions have led to significant advancement in the industry, including development of river restoration concepts, environmental dredging optimization, geotube dewatering concepts, wetland restoration and living shoreline designs, sea level rise and coastal adaptation planning, and cost-effective port development approaches. Mohan’s professional experience includes planning and design studies, technical reviews and evaluations, and project management for a variety of clients in the areas of coastal and water resources engineering, environmental planning, and port development.
A member of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and WEDA since 1988, he has served on numerous committees, including the National Research Council’s (NRC) Ocean Studies Board (OSB). From 2000-2002, he was a member of the congressionally-mandated panel to peer review the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Planning and Policy Guidance. Mohan was also a member of the independent panels associated with dredging of the St. Louis River (Minnesota) and the Elizabeth River (Virginia), two internationally watched projects.
Mohan has also advised three major billion-dollar river dredging projects, and played major roles in the design of the dredging of the Fox River (Wisconsin), the Hudson River (New York), and the Onondaga Lake (upstate New York).
A lecturer at Texas A&M University’s Center for Dredging Studies since 1995, Mohan has also taught civil engineering courses at the Johns Hopkins Whiting School of Engineering.
