Temperature and pressure dependence of elastic constants

A simple theoretical method is proposed for the determination of second-order elastic constants as a function of temperature and pressure. The results obtained for NaCl, KCl, and CaF2 are compared with the earlier theoretical investigations and available experimental data as well as the Monte Carlo simulation results. It is concluded that the results obtained are in better agreement with the experimental data than those of earlier workers.
