Temperature dependence of bulk modulus and second order elastic constants of minerals

A simple mathematical analysis based on the theory of equation of state (EOS) is used to unify the three formulations based on different physical origins, viz. Suzuki, Shanker and Kumar. It is found that the Shanker formulation is just the second order exponential expansion of the theory of EOS reported by Kumar. The Suzuki formulation also resembles with the same provided that the term (B’ 0 −1) is replaced by (B’ 0 +1). Using these formulations, the temperature dependence of bulk modulus and second order elastic constants of ten minerals are computed. It is found that the results based on the mother equation (Kumar Eq.) are in better agreement with the experimental data
