Vaporization properties of gasoline using PTC heater during spray impingement
J. Kim

The vaporization properties of sprayed gasoline were investigated using PTC heater during spray impingement. PTC heater was made with Sb2O3 doped (Ba0.849Pb0.15)TiO3-based heating element using a conventional solid state reaction technique. Experiment equipment was also prepared to investigate the vaporization properties of gasoline sprayed from electronic control fuel injector. The vaporization properties of sprayed gasoline were influenced by the temperature of PTC heating element (room temperature and 180ºC) and the impinging angle of gasoline (90º, 75º, 60º, and 45º) on PTC heater. They were determined by the vaporization amount of gasoline and photographs on the vaporization process of gasoline after spray impingement on PTC heater. The vaporization amount of gasoline was not directly measured by the amount of non-vaporized gasoline after spray impingement, because the collected gasoline was too little to measure the vaporization amount of gasoline. So, the vaporization properties of gasoline were indirectly investigated by photographs shown the vaporization process of gasoline during spray impingement.
