X Band Response of Thick and Thin Film Microstrip Patch Antenna to Leaf Overlay

This paper reports fabrication technology related X band response of thick and thin film microstrip patch antenna to moisture changes in leaf overlay. The antenna characteristics have been investigated for leaf surface effects also. Two types of leaves have been used as in-touch overlay: Tradescantia (Magenta colour) and Pothas Scandens (Green colour). Leaf moisture, colour and leaf surface dependent effects are observed. The fabrication technology related effects are in the form of loss of antenna characteristics in thick film antenna due to very high moisture content and more sensitivity of the thin film antenna to lower moisture content of leaf.
