11th ISRS Congress 2013 in Toronto, Canada

The 11th ISRS Congress in Toronto, Canada, was a success. We thank the local organizing committee chaired by Arjun Sahgal and Michael Schwartz. There were 540 delegates who attended the ISRS 2013 Congress. More than a third of the attendees were radiation oncologists, a third were neurosurgeons, and slightly less than a third were medical physicists and radiation therapists. This breakdown highlights the true multi-disciplinary nature of the ISRS, and the ability to bring all specialities in radiosurgery together under one roof for scientific discussions and collaborations. In this Congress, 302 abstracts were accepted for presentation, and 205 abstracts were oral presentations while the remainder poster presentations. Everyone remarked on the outstanding quality and diversity of the scientific program. In addition, the educational day was again a major success with more than 200 attendees and the feedback was highly supportive for this tradition to continue. We are proud to announce our award winners:

Bruce Pollock – Fabrikant Award for his outstanding career in brain radiosurgery

Isabelle Thibault – Young Investigator Award for her work on spine SBRT

Constantine Tuleasca – Young Professional Award for his work in the field of functional brain radiosurgery

Sang Roh Kim – Best Poster Award for his work on the technology of lung SBRT
