An Investigation of Ramped Laser Material Deposition

Research carried out on Laser Material Deposition (LMD) processes includes extensive series of experiments for determining parameter values. These can be reduced in number by applying a Ramped Deposition technique, in which a process parameter is varied during the deposition of a single track. The potential applications for the deposition of transient parameter tracks are considered.
