An Autocorrelation Technique for Pulse Width Measurement of Ultrashort Optical Pulses
M. Sadettin Ozyazici and A. Ihsan Kutlar

In this study an autocorrelation measurement device is constructed and used to measure the pulse width of ultrashort optical pulses produced from a semiconductor laser diode by the gain switching technique. It was found that the width of the gain switched pulses is limited by the dynamics of the laser diode and not by the pulse shape of the electrical drive.
