A Compact Plus-Shaped Multiband Monopole Antenna for WiFi/WLAN/WiMAX Applications

In this research article, the compact Plus-shaped Multiband Monopole Antenna for WiFi/WLAN/WiMAX applications is proposed. The plus – shaped patch is obtained from the square patch and the cut is made in between the square and plus-shaped patches which provides enhanced bandwidth with multiband resonance. The proposed antenna gives three bands which are ranging from (2.4–2.84GHz)/2.6 GHz for WLAN, (5–5.85GHz)/5.2 GHz suitable for WiMAX and (7.4–7.5GHz)/7.4 GHz for long distance radio telecommunications. The impedance bandwidth has achieved 15%, 15.38% and 1% respectively with S11= -10 dB impedance matching criterion .The total size of substrate has occupied area is 24×38×0.8mm3. The compact proposed antenna simulated peak gain has achieved 4.5dBi for 2.6GHz, 3.5dBi for 5.2GHz and 2.5GHz for 7.4GHz, and also measured peak gain has achieved 4.2dBi at 2.6GHz, 3.1dBi at 5.2GHz and 2.3dBi at 7.4GHz. The simulated return loss and measured return loss is closed agreement between them and also display measured radiation pattern and simulated surface current distribution on display.
