Chemical potential and equation of state for fluids of hard diatomic molecules

The performance of a previously developed simple analytical equation of state for pure athermal fluids is tested for fluids consisting of hard diatomic molecules. The chemical potential is obtained from thermodynamic integration of the equation of state. Results are compared with existing simulation data and those obtained from other commonly used equations of state, for the fluids considered.
