Equation of state and pressure dependence of second order elastic constants of γ-Si3N4 and diamond composite nanomaterials

A simple theoretical method is developed to study the pressure dependence of second order elastic constants (SOECs) of nanomaterials using equation of state (EOS). To judge on the suitability of the EOS, we have studied several nanosystems. A good agreement between theory and experiment supports the suitability of the formulation used. We have extended the application of the theory to study the pressure dependence of SOECs of γ-Si3N4 and Diamond composite. The results have been compared with the available experimental data. A good agreement between theory and experiment supports the validity of the method developed in the present paper.
