An Alternative Approach to Design an Inhibitor Logic Gate Using Reflective Semiconductor Optical Amplifier
Surajit Bosu and Baibaswata Bhattacharjee

The reflective semiconductor optical amplifier (RSOA) shows high gain, high-speed signal processing ability, low noise performance, and works at low power. In this article, we employ the RSOA to study through simulation the feasibility of all optical inhibitor logic gate. We also used soliton bits for implementation in the proposed design. Here, an alternative approach is used to design this gate, and we also calculate the quality factor (Q), contrast ratio (CR), extinction ratio (ER), and bit-error-rate (BER) of the proposed design.

Keywords: RSOA, soliton, dibit logic, inhibitor logic, quality factor (Q), bit-error-rate (BER)
