Inline Coaxial Probe Transition in Ridge Gap Waveguide Using Chebyshev Multi-section Matching Transformer for Wideband Applications
Pampa Debnath, Ujjwal Mondal and Arpan Deyasi

A wideband inline coaxial to Ridge waveguide transition is designed invoking the concept of low resonating structure at Ku band having bandwidth of 5.27 GHz. The proposed novel architecture exhibits the potential advantage of using inline coaxial probe feed transition compared to broadwall feeding. Effects of nail width variation and row numbers for those nail stacks have been investigated for analyzing scattering parameters. For further improvement of RF characteristics, Chebyshev multisection matching transformer has been introduced, which results in a composite significant improvement compared to published literature in terms of 55% broader bandwidth, return loss lower than 16 dB and 0.01 dB insertion loss. Simulated findings will become beneficial in designing millimeter wave transmission lines for implementation at monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMICs) and systems.
