This paper describes a strategy for the creation of microchannels on cyclic olefin polymer (COP) films which have interest in the microfluidic field. To imprint the microchannels on the COP film of 180 μm thickness, nanosecond pulsed Nd:YAG laser and a 100 fs Ti:Sapphire femtosecond laser were used to ablate the channels. By varying the number of passes, power and step size optimized values are obtained to form the microchannels. The microchannel formation and depth are analysed.
