The Editorial Boards of the Journal of Multiple-Valued Logic and Soft Computing and Ad Hoc and Sensor Wireless Networks wish to make the sad announcement of the death of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Ivan Stojmenovic, who served as a founding co-managing editor-in-chief of both journals.
Dr. Ivan Stojmenovic died in a tragic car accident on a highway near Ottawa on November 3rd 2014. He is leaving this wife Natasha and his children, Dr. Milos Stojmenovic of Novi Sad, Serbia, Ms. Mila Stojmenovic who is currently a PhD student, and a grand daughter.
Dr. Stojmenovic was a Serbian-Canadian mathematician and served as a Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Ottawa. He taught at the University of Novi Sad in Serbia and the University of Birmingham in the U.K. He was also a visiting researcher and professor at numerous schools around the world.
Ivan was known for his prodigious activity as a researcher in many areas of mathematics and computer science which resulted in more than 160 publications and several books. He worked successfully in areas like computational chemistry, parallel algorithms, pervasive computing, computational geometry, and multiple-valued logic. In recent years, Ivan was interested in communication networks and algorithms and his activity in this field was recognized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers which named him an IEEE Fellow for an “extraordinary record of accomplishments” in data communication and wireless sensor technology. He was also a recipient of the prestigious Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award (2006).
