Introduction

The previous special issue of TICL (volume 11, Number 1) on adaptive learning contains articles by Robert Sottilare, Army Research Laboratory; John (Dexter) Fletcher, Institute for Defense Analysis and Joseph M. Scandura, Emeritus Professor, Director of Research, TutorIT and University of Pennsylvania with a Preface by Elena Novak and Scandura. These articles focus on three very different, well-researched approaches to adaptive learning. Each derives from fundamentally different assumptions. These articles also rest on different concepts, technologies and techniques. Implications are equally diverse.

Given very different paradigms and assumptions, we are encouraging readers engaged in research on adaptive learning to contribute their own considered thoughts and reactions. One reasoned response to this issue has already been received and is under review. Additional contributions are both welcome and encouraged.

Articles in this issue may be found at www.TutorITweb.com. Press “Backspace”, then select “GET TICL Publications”

You may also contact the authors or the publisher directly. If your library does not already subscribe, please ask them to contact Guy Griffiths at journals@oldcitypublishing.com.

All well-reasoned perspectives and contributions are encouraged. They may include challenging or probing questions, brief summaries of other perspectives/theories on adaptive learning, reasoned statements of agreement or disagreement and/or open issues or omissions. The intent is to publish contributions that will contribute to a deeper understanding of, and most important progress in adaptive learning.
