Autonomous Video Compression System for Environmental Monitoring
Irene Mateos-Cañas, Sandra Sendra, Jaime Lloret, Jose Miguel Jimenez

Throughout the present work, series of exhaustive studies are realized with the purpose of determine which is the most suitable video compression codec for transmitting video recorded in a natural environment where a colour is predominant above the rest. This has been done starting from scratch by analyzing a video for obtaining its RGB level. After that, a study about the network parameters resulted from the fact of having the transcoded video stored in a server waiting for a RTP client request has been realized. Lately, a decision algorithm has been designed and it establishes, according to the results obtained in the previous researches, the most suitable video compression codec. Finally, a Python program has been implemented. It automatizes the process of video recording, RGB predominant level calculation and, depending on the previous results, transcoding for obtaining the final transcoded video file.
