An Energy-Efficient Routing Scheme in Wireless Sensor Networks for Life Time Maximization Using Fuzzy Based Decision

Due to rapid growth in digital communication systems, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) play a major part in various real-time applications. WSNs can easily configure by itself to send the data to the base station with minimal effort. WSNs can be generally used to monitor environmental conditions in a real-time environment such as temperature and humidity monitoring in thermal plants, etc. Generally, WSNs can send the sensed data to the base station using a packed frame in binary format. Routing is one of the very important processes in WSNs to configure the network by itself for efficient and fast data transmission. In this paper, a new approach is proposed as energy efficient routing scheme to achieve maximum performance and to improve the network lifetime (EER-FUZZY). Initial clustering is performed based on the fuzzy c-means clustering (FCM) techniques. A fuzzy-based decision technique is proposed to make the decision based on various parameters such as energy, distance, and priority. The proposed technique is evaluated with a various number of Cluster Head (CH) and users. From the evaluation results, it is found that proposed techniques giving better performance when compared to the conventional energy-based routing techniques. We have achieved an average of 7% alive nodes and 10% of reduction in dead nodes.
