Transient Thermal Coupling in Flows Over a Finite Thickness Plate
Emilia-Cerna Mladin, Mohammed Lachi and Mourad Rebay

In this work, the authors present two similar mathematical models to characterize the transient response of heat transfer coupling in a steady flow over a flat plate of finite thickness. Transients are induced by step change in temperature or a sudden change in surface heat flux at the back surface of the plate. The system responses and the deviations relative to the zero-thickness plate case are shown in graphical and tabular forms. A correlation is obtained for constant plate back surface temperature and constant plate back surface heat flux boundary conditions, which includes thermal coupling effects from the plate finite thickness.
