Forced Convection from Transversely Oscillating Elliptic Cylinder
S.J.D. D’Alessio and Serpil Kocabiyik

Forced convection from a heated inclined elliptic cylinder performing transverse oscillations and placed in a uniform stream is investigated. Approximate analytical solutions to the equations of motion and energy are obtained using a series expansion for small times. The governing equations are also numerically integrated to determine the flow field characteristics and the heat transfer coefficients for early to moderate times. The numerical method is checked with the results of the analytical solution and good agreement between the two results is found.
