Letter from the Editor
This issue of Nonlinear Optics, Quantum Optics marks a transition in both title and scope of what has been formerly, the journal Nonlinear Optics. The journal has been remodelled and retitled in response to the development of the field of quantum optics related to quantum information science. Quantum optics is already a well-established field and the research activity continues to expand explosively because of the actively growing field of quantum information, closely related to quantum optics. It is a pivotal time for scientists of nonlinear optics to extend their activity into quantum optics—the quantum including quantum computer, quantum communication, quantum cryptography and many other areas of great interest and importance, which are related to the experimental technique and physical mechanisms of nonlinear optics.
