Magnetic Tuning of Band Offset in ZnTe/Zn1-xMnxTe Superlattices
The magnetic tuning of band offset in ZnTe/Zn1-xMnxTe superlattices is studied within the framework of tight binding approach. An sp2d hybridization was used to calculate the average hybrid energy and a valence band offset of 0.77eV obtained for ZnTe/MnTe interface in good agreement with an earlier value of 0.76eV. A model for calculation of magnetic tuning of valence band offset at ZnTe/Zn1-xMnxTe interface was obtained and the model results were in good agreement with experiments. As the applied field increased the contribution of magnetic field to the valence band offset increased, having a residual value due to spontaneous magnetization.
