Third Order Nonlinear Optical Properties of Melaminium Bis (Trifluoroacetate) Trihydrate Crystal for Potential Optical Devices
S. Akshay Kalyan, N. Kanagathara and N. Sivakumar
Single crystals of melaminium bis (trifluoroacetate) trihydrate (MTFA) have been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique at room temperature. The grown crystals were subsequently characterized for their structural and optical properties. The single-crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis confirmed that MTFA crystallizes in the monoclinic crystal system, with P2/c space group symmetry. Further, the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of MTFA were investigated using the Z-scan technique, a standard method for measuring third-order nonlinear optical susceptibility using the Nd: YAG laser radiation of wavelength 1064 nm and the susceptibility value was found to be χ(3) = 4.163 × 10–10 e.s.u.. This value reflects the material’s ability modulate light at high intensities and used for applications in photonics and optoelectronic devices
