Research on the Optimum Parameters of Coral Powder and Mix Proportion of Low-carbon Coral Aggregate Concrete

This paper investigates the potential of using coral powder (CP) as a cementitious material. The preparation and mechanical properties of low-carbon coral aggregate concrete (LCCAC) were assessed. The influence of CP dosage and fineness on mortar was investigated. The mix design method for C30 LCCAC was proposed. The mechanical characteristic of LCCAC contrasted with CAC was exposed. The carbon emissions of C30 LCCAC, CAC, LAC and OPC in the production stage were analyzed. The results indicate that as the CP content increases and its fineness decreases, the strength of mortar initially rises and then declines. The optimum of CP is 10%, and the optimum fineness is D50 = 4.61 μm. The 𝑓𝑓 of LCCAC is substantially higher than that of CAC without CP, which can be increased by 19.4% at most. LCCAC has lower carbon emissions in the production stage than CAC, LAC and OPC, and CP has better carbon reduction benefits.
