Tension Control System for Cable-laying Based on a Fuzzy Adaptive PID

In the literature of control system, PID controller is a fundamental scheme for various industrial tasks. However, the conventional PID controller that was widely implemented in cable-laying may not reach a satisfactory performance due to high precision requirements and time-varying effects. To tackle this problem, a tension control system for cable-laying based on a fuzzy adaptive PID is presented. This system inherits the advantages of PID controller and fuzzy logic control. The proposed controller replaces the conventional PID controller and implements inside a closed-loop cable-laying system. The simulation and actual operation results show the effectiveness of proposed tension control system.
