Modelling Nonlinear Dynamics of Gravitational Waves by Self Focusing and Self Trapping of Light in Preformed Plasma Channels

This paper presents the analogy of nonlinear dynamics of gravitational waves with nonlinear optical phenomenon of self focusing of the laser beams. In this regard propagation of intense laser beams in preformed plasma channels with graded index of refraction has been investigated. Formulation is based on finding semi analytical solution of the nonlinear wave equation for the field of laser beam with the help of virial theory. Particularly the phenomena of self focusing and self trapping of the laser beam have been investigated in detail.
