A Rare Earth Doped Glass for Laser Medium Application: A Review

This review paper deals with the physics of the laser glass media. To understand this type of the lasing medium one has to explore the fundamentals of glass materials. The researchers found the effect of laser output emission not only depends on the rare earth or the transition metals that dope the glass medium but also on the chemical composition of the glass. In the paper different types of rare earth dopants and host media series, with variety of output laser emission wavelengths, are collected.
