A Study on the Growth and Characterization of Ammonium Dichromate Doped L-Glycine Crystal for Nonlinear Optical Applications

L-Glycine Ammonium Dichromate (LGADC), a novel NLO crystal, was grown by the slow evaporation technique at ambient conditions. Single crystal XRD confirms that the grown crystal possesses a monoclinic and non-centrosymmetric space group P21. UV-Vis-NIR analysis shows a wide transparency range 400-1200nm, with a wavelength cutoff at 400nm. FTIR spectral studies identify functional groups, while SEM-EDAX reveals microstructural and elemental composition. Kurtz and Perry’s powder technique predicts that the material is capable of exhibiting NLO behavior, which is significant for finding nonlinear optical applications.
